New Pickups for 2007 RG1527

After dealing with the stock pups on this bargain RG1527 I've decided I truly hate them. Any suggestions for good all around replacements? I play everything from worship to insane.

Willing to spend up to $400 for the pups

Thanks in advance!

You can't go wrong with any of the DiMarzio range. Tone Zone, Paf Pro etc etc etc

Dave weiner usually suggests Paf 7's, I got an Evo and a Blaze, both really good even though the 7 string evo's extra highs are sort of annoying sometimes. Might just go for a blaze custom instead of the evo but who knows.

There seems to be a lot of good things being said about the new Petrucci combo, you could go that way. Liquifire7/Crunchlab7

I keep hearing good things about the Crunchlab as well.

any BKP can work too... that was my first choice for my RG7 before the CL7/LF7 pups came out. Now that I've had these Petrucci pups for a few weeks, I can say the combo is pretty versatile and gnarly!

... if you really want to dish out that much, maybe a Q-tuner?

You know I've been looking at those. I already have an RG7621 with Blazes and Peavey Predator TR7 with AirNorton/DSonic. I like both combos, but I want something different. I think I'll go this way.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! This site is so much more helpful and so much less elitist than the others I've seen.

How about Lundgren M7 for bridge and a sustainiac 7 for neck? I'm thinking about going this way myself but it's way too far from my budget. Not yours though!

I'm gonna be different and suggest Seymour Duncans. I've got a Full Shred (b) and Jazz (n) in my RG2820 (different body wood to the 1527 though) and they sound wonderful. The Jazz is a gorgeous pickup

With this comment, I'm gonna be hated by everyone here.

Why don't you try an EMG 707? I love the rythm sound you can get from it. I must admit that pickup sucks for leads, but effects should solve the problem. Listen to Nevermore if you want to have an idea of how it sounds.

To each his own. I've personally never liked EMG's, but have had bandmates that swore by them.

Re: New Pickups for 2007 RG1527

Slightly on a tangent, but this is weird. I replaced the stock pups with the LiquiFire CrunchLab and the things sound incredible. I'll get some vid up. What is weird is that I took the stock pups and put them in a Dean Vendetta 7 that I got as a throw-in in a barter deal. They actually sound better in the Dean than they did in the Ibby. I'll put some vid up of this one, too.
