New pup for a Wolfgang?
Hi everyone. I have a Wolfgang standard and am thinking of putting either a
Tone Zone
or a Breed in the
bridge position
. I just wanted to know if anybody has any experience with both of these pups and if so how do they differ from each other.

I love the Tone Zone. I have both pups. I find the TZ's higher output and more sensitive to the pick attack. The Breed doesn't seem to to be as smooth as the TZ.

Hey thanks for the reply EKG. I broke out some Racer X cds and really dug the tone, very big warm and ballsy!! I think the TZ would probably sound great in my Wolfie.

I don't know if it will be much different. Dimarzio recommends the TZ in the bridge and
Air Norton
in the neck to get close to the VH tone.

It should be a little warmer with a bigger bottom. The stock Wolfie pups have a ceramic magnet which I don't like because they are a little too bright and on the harsh side. I also have an Axis and that pup is just perfect! !! Much better than the stock Wolfie pup is. So hopefully it will sound a little more like the Axis if I get a TZ in it.

I have a Wolfgand Standard also, and if your looking for a VH tone I don't think you can get any closer to what Ed himself put in there. What about your amp?? Just an idea before you change pups.....

I am actually looking for a tone that is closer to the Axis I have.... warmer and a little more bottom to it. Also I like the sound of alnico magnets more than ceramic ones.
