As you know the RG 2550 is a basswood body guitar with pickguard.
I also have a RG 2620 with DiMarzio Breeds in it and now I want something different for the 2550.
Shred and picking - sensitive for the neck and lots of harmonics would be great
The brindge PU should have lots of harmonics, too and be powerfull, for chords and also versatile, and precise for progressive riffs and Racer-X-stuff.
I am also thinking of the option to tune this guitar down to D or C, so a modern PU could be interesting. But this is just an option. My RG 2620 with the Breeds does also sound great when tuned to C - although the picking sound becomes a bit muddy with thick strings in low tuning.
By now I got experiences with the Evo's in a JEM 7 VWH - but with Alder body and
ebony fretboard the sound won't be the same in a basswood guitar with
rosewood fretboard.
I also know the PAF Pro - which I like in a RG 3120 as neck PU. (mahagoni)
Please share your thoughts with me!
Thanks,
marko
