This probably isn't a very straight forward question but...
My S1220 (QM1 and QM2 ibanez stock p/ups) and RG1520 (V7 and V

are the two guitars i have that are easiest to get 'vowel sounds' out of during bridge p/up lead playing stuff involving bends and vibrato - the sort of stuff where you are kinda emulating human voice characteristics.
So by combining certain picking techniques with the way you bend the string then do vibrato, you get "oooo" or "ahhhh" sounds that make the lead part much more human and expressive (this is without a wah pedal of course).
With my Parker Fly and JEM which both have Dimarzios, getting these sounds is far more difficult and alot more hit and miss.
I'm wondering if this is down to the Dimarzios having a higher output than the stock ibanez p/ups - and that my combination of a
high gain amp (JSX) and high gain p/ups takes away from the expressive quality of the Dimarzios whereas the stock Ibanez p/ups (being lower power?) give the right balance of power?
This perhaps makes no sense but is hard to explain...
Reason for the question is that i'm trying to choose which new p/ups to put in my S7420 and so far i'm leaning towards PAF7 and/or Blaze (not sure which way round yet) as i want it to sound as nice as my other
Ibanez guitars. (The S7420s stock p/ups aren't as nice as the others and i just fancy putting something new in it anyway!)
Any thoughts gents?
