Paf Joe or Paf Pro

Hey guys,

I've been thinking of changing the pickups on my Rg1570, and I was wondering if a Paf Pro and Mo Joe would be better balanced on my guitar or a Paf Joe and Mo Joe?

Would Paf Pro have cleaner lows/bass on a 24-fret neck than on a 22 fret neck like the JS1000?

They say that the Paf Joe is 10% less output, and is less muddy than a Paf Pro. I'm assuming that they are referring to when the Paf Pro is on a 22 fret neck guitar, and it would not be as muddy on a 24 fret guitar since it is positioned away from the 24 fret harmonic. Is my theory correct?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Well... the one thing I don't find is mud in the PAF Pro!
It's one of the cleanest pickups I have ever laid my hands upon.

Can't give you an opinion regarding the other pickups you have mentioned, though...

Re: Paf Joe or Paf Pro

I've currently got the Mo Joe + PAF Pro combo in my RG550. I love the PAF Pro, but it's very bassy as compared with the Mo Joe. The bottom 2 strings do tend to get a touch muddy with clean tones as well. I like the bassy tone in and of itself, but the Mo JOe doesn't have the bottom end to balance it out, so it sounds awkward when switching. I'm going to try a PAF Joe in hopes that it will balance better. Don't get me wrong, the PAF Pro is a beautiful pickup. For me, it's a matter of balancing with the bridge pickup more that anything else. You could try the PAF Pro with a fatter bridge pickup - I haven't played a Norton but many say it matches well with the PAF Pro. I'll post an update when I drop in the PAF Joe.
