Paf Joe Review

If you're like me you love reviews.
I put a Paf Joe in the neck of my custom RG1550. It is a bright humbucker compared to say a Air Norton or Breed. Highs are glassy like a single coil only more round. Sounds great clean. Leads are Paf Pro like with more glass on the highs. The bass side is a bit tighter than a Paf Pro. I'd say it's as close as your going to get to a Humbucker From Hell and still retain a PAF tone.

I will say it's a big contrast to the darker sounding Breed in the bridge. That's good if you like different tones from your guitar, bad if you want both pups to sound close.

Played into a Mesa F-30 and 2x12 cab.

Re: Paf Joe Review

nice review.

I love the Paf Joe in my RGA. I prefer bright neck pickups. and i like that the Joe has a bit of single coil mojo
I agree with your descriptions and findings -- they're spot on with my experiences as well.
I especially like that you can play chords on the low strings and it doesn't get boomy.

Re: Paf Joe Review

I have the PAF pro in the bridge of my RG2550 with the Mo Joe in the neck, I know Joe uses it the other way around but I prefer this way. PAF Pro give a nice well rounded sound in the bridge, its not this or that, it really allows me to sound the way I want it to sound. I don't see any limits in it, its just a good sounding pickup. Mo Joe in the neck is very thick, warm sounding, not too much of that "glassy" tone which I don't like so much, great for that shred tone.
