PAF Pro in Les Paul
Hey guys,
I have a ESP LTD EC-1000. Thinking of changing the EMGs for PAF Pros, anyone know how this will sound? I used to have PAF Pros in an
alder bodied
super strat
I have and loved the sound then, but obviously a les paul will sound a little different!
Cheers
Joe

Re: PAF Pro in Les Paul
Is it going in a
Les Paul
or an LTD? Either way the
Paf Pro
is DiMarzios attempt at a vintage Gibson pickup, so there's no reason it wont work. It wouldnt be my first choice but you might like it.

Re: PAF Pro in Les Paul
I´m not sure why but when I think les paul I think in SD pups, not dimarzio, and the only dimarzio I know how it would sound on a les paul is a
super distortion
, so what
dimarzio pups
have a nice sound on a lp?

Probably because all the shred-kitties use Dimarzios in their Ibanez and the days of a Super Distortion in a Les Paul are long past.

Re: PAF Pro in Les Paul
My favorite
bridge pup
in a les paul is either a Norton, or a Breed neck. Get F-Spaced and it lines everything up perfectly. The Breed neck sounds like a PAF Pro but fatter and warmer. I had a PAF Pro in my LP for a while and it was nice but not as nice as something like the Norton, or the AN, or the Breed neck, or even a Super D.
It all sort of depends on how much output you're looking for.

Re: PAF Pro in Les Paul
You might like a PAF Pro in the neck and Super 3 in the bridge, I think that'd be a sweet combo in a Les Paul. If I had a Les Paul that's what I'd do, or maybe a Breed or Super Distortion in the bridge.
But the PAF Pro in the neck slot is imho amazing, really nice, singing, sweet tone.

I can't comment on PAF Pro in a Les Paul, but these are amazing:

Isn't the only person using
DiMarzio Super Distortion
Pickups in a Les Paul the corpse of
Ace Frehley
?

'59 and JB is a brilliant combination for EC-1000. I know, I have one.

Re: PAF Pro in Les Paul
I have an Epi LP. I have a Paf Pro (DP151) 1986-87 model I think, in the
bridge position
. Sounds awsome!! not too bright as the LP seems to have a dark sort of sound anyway. I also have a gibson 57 reissue in the neck.
the pair sound great.

Re: PAF Pro in Les Paul
I have a Paf Pro In the bridge of my Explorer and love it. If you are fine with the output level of a paf pro then I recommend it.
