Re: Paf-Pro in neck or bridge, 2nd pickup: FRED

I think the Fred is a higher output pickup than the Paf pro, and is probably therefore more suited to the bridge with the paf pro in the neck.

Re: Paf-Pro in neck or bridge, 2nd pickup: FRED

Hi man

I have a few guitars

One has a Paf in the neck and a fred in the bridge, i love this guitar it has the ability to solo and cut through a mix with the sweetest tone the paf in the neck is a compliment to the fred they work so well together, great for soloing

I have an rg550 with a tonezone in the neck and a paf in the bridge the paf in the bridge is awesome it has a real 80`s metal chug to it but not over the top, its very clear and great for treble soloing

The tone zone in the neck is an uncharted amazment, i tried this as an examble and it is absolutely amazing, i cannot explain how this combo sounds, infact im gonna play her now

I have vids of both of these guitars doing pickup tests, if you want them sing out

Okay, so let's see a video with the Tone Zone in the neck and a PAF Pro in the bridge. I'd like to hear what that sounds like myself.

Re: Paf-Pro in neck or bridge, 2nd pickup: FRED

The Fred is designed for the bridge. The Paf Pro is usually in the neck, but lots of guitars have used them in both positions.

My JSs sound great with the Fred bridge, PAF Pro/Joe neck ... and it meets Joe's standards. I personally wouldn't pick a Fred for the neck ... I don't think that would sound good to me.

I use the PAF PRO in the bridge (and neck) with a couple of guitars. I really like its nice "A" vowel sound. Haven't tried the rest so I don't know.

In my opinion it is what the V7 and v8 should have sounded like.
