Paf-Pro with ceramic magnet swap

Man I almost ditched this pickup 'cause of low output but man I put a ceramic in there and whoa, she's a keeper sounds like a "baby EVO"

Re: Paf-Pro with ceramic magnet swap

For the bridge position I have always found the Paf Pro lacking in output as well. While I really dig the feel and EQ of the pickup it's always stopped me from considering it a viable option. This may be worth looking into. Care to share more specific information? What type of magnet, where from, setup, etc?

One option that I have considered for my mohagany RG is a Duncan Custom to get a brighter and cleaner sound. Anyone with any info on that pickup can feel free to chime in if they would.

Re: Paf-Pro with ceramic magnet swap

The ceramic magnet was pulled from my Artcore's ACH-2 ceramicb bridge humbucker. Simple magnet swap.though a tight fit had to file it a tiny bit from one side.. the guitar is a Hollowed out Warmoth Strat(birdseye Poplar w/ Flamed maple top maple neck . Amp is a JSX in the Ultra channel.
It is a different humbucker now. It was super bright, now its a tad darker and has more mids and gain. Maybe like a Breed/Evo combo. Comparable to a Duncan Custom but darker with a modern sounding upper mid. squeels like a pig(LOL)
On the Duncan custom-I had one in my LesPaul studio a few years back- being a compulsive tweeker I pulled the alnico magnet from the stock gibsons and swapped out the ceramic magnet from the custom effectively making a Custom 5 (SH14) that was a nice humbucker with a scooped mid and a great lead tone and rhythm tone. also made the cleans really nice as well.
Stock I didn't like the custom too much as it was a cold humbucker. I'd say go for the Custom 5 in mahogany.

The SD Distortion Bridge and the SD JD are exactly the same pickup excep for the magnet. So if you put a ceramic magnet to a JB you'll get a Distortion Bridge.

Re: Paf-Pro with ceramic magnet swap

Dragging up an old thread, but I just tried this last night. I used the ceramic pickup out of an old INF2 pickup, and I got a bit more distortion, and the pickup was a little darker, but still had the PAF Pro over all tone.

Biggest impact I noticed was the split coil with the middle single was a lot lower in volume, and had far more treble.

I'm actually going to order what is hopefully a stronger ceramic magnet tonight and try again when it arrives. Hopefully a little more gain, which is what I want from the PAF Pro.

Save steaming movies how?

I used some youtube downloaders - paid or free, and I was impressed with possibility to download and convert streaming videos and play them on any devices Then I made some searches and found really amasing tool that totally changed my view! I really like to watch online videos and I know a lot of streaming video sites - YouTube, Imeem, last fm etc But even if you find web site with free music videos online you cannot save online audio to your PC withot special tools drm-removal com]DRM-Removal surf'n'catch allows to record streaming audio and video, watch it on your PC and convert it to the most popular formats for playing on the devices like MP3 players, iPods, iPhones etc
