Phase problem?

I've recently changed pickups to an RG350, I put a V7 & V8 pickups of my 1570. Well the problems is that when I activate the neck&midle pickups (position 4) I'm getting a very weak and thin sound. Also the neck pickup is a little noisy, which is weird because that's not supossed to happen..

So, it could be that the pickups are out of phase? or there's something wrong with they?

Re: Phase problem?

I have that problem with my RG when i put a PAF Pro in the bridge, and now the bridge and middle together sound really weird and weak.

Personally i really like it.. in this position anyway, becasue on the lower strings i get a really cool funky clunk kind of sound (but the high notes sound like a bee in a jamjar)

I think its phase cancellation. And if it is, simply turning the pickup around should fix it.

Re: Phase problem?

Turning a pickup doesn't change the phase, if you think about it the magnets are still the same way up and the coil of wire still goes the same way!
It sounds like the neck pickup is wired incorrectly, and possibly in the neck position of the selector you've still got the pickup coil tapped. Have a look at the wiring and let me know how it is and I'll help if I can.

Re: Phase problem?

It's fixed now, actually some wires of the neck pickup weren't completely isolated and they were making contact with other components. Thanks everyone
