Pick volumes

On my JEM777FP the (original) pickups have different volume, this happens from some months, the more low of volume is the single in the middle and the more high is the one in the neck.

Can you help me to resolve this Problem?

Thanks.

Re: Pick volumes

The middle single has always been a bit lower in volume than either of the humbuckers; it's actually normal for the Jem and RG series of guitars.

Re: Pick volumes

The neck pickup is louder because the strings vibrate wider there than at the bridge, moving the magnetic field of the pickup further. Try lowering the neck pickup a bit to balance it out.

This is why most "neck" model pickups are lower output. The old Jems came with the same bridge and neck pickups though.

Re: Pick volumes

Thanks Toshiro,

I've done it yet, but it change just a bit, nothing so valuable. To says all it's more percetible with clean sound than when there's distortion or overdrive.

The fact that annoy me is that it's happened suddenly... I shall know why: from the day I bought Strato JEM is jealous, but I haven't four hands.

Seriously, I will do some audio example so someone should help me if it's normal or not.

Re: Pick volumes

If it is something that changed suddenly, then you probably have something that "broke". While it is possible that something happened to the pickup, it is much more likely going to be a problem in the wiring. Don't overlook the fact that the problem might be making the bridge quieter instead of making the neck louder (not sure how you can break something that makes a passive pickup louder). Especially check for a bad connection or a problem with the selector switch.

Re: Pick up Problem??? Microphonic, feed back???

Hi i've been out from this site because of work and now i'm beginning to play again, i've notice a big microphonic type of feedback noise problem from my two Ibanez Universe, i change from amp to amp, my friends put their guitars and they don't "scream" equal to mine, Can someone tell what kind of technics, upgrade or anything that can be maid to eliminate that microphonic problem?? i even full out one of the body's of one Universe with Scotch Aluminum Foil tape to reduce the frequency interference or any ground problem. I read another article that said something about the ages of the Humbuckers in some 91 to 94 Ibanez production. My sound mimic John Petrucci on the distortion and Andy Timmons on clean, just to let all you know better this "case". Any kind of idea please, i'm all eyes!! Thanks!

Re: Pick volumes

Is it microphonic feedback or noise? Microphonic feedback usually happens with pickups that aren't wax potted. Noise problems can be fixed with careful shielding and wiring.

Re: Pick volumes

It's not noise, it's highpitched whistles of different frequencies. I'm trying to add some sponge or foam in it in a few hours. If that's it, i'm gonna look you guys up and hug you! (-:

I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks so far. I'm feeling better already.
