pickup modifications?

i磎 tired of the sound of my Inf3 and Inf4 stock humbuckers in my Rg... so i was wondering if anyone knows any tricks or mods that i could do to them to alter the way they sound? i read that one thread about making a tonezone half 创air创 coil or whatever you call it...

so, the seup is: INF3 neck, INFs3 single coil middle, INF4 bridge...

surprise meh!

Re: pickup modifications?

You can always swap out the 500k volume pots for 1Megs to brighten up the output. INF's could use a little brightening...

Re: pickup modifications?

i was thinking about not using any cash o do the modding :P

i磎 getting dimarzio磗 when the money is present, but right now i磛e spent what i had on a dimarzio for my 7 string :P

so yeah... i磛e thought about the 1 meg pot before though, although that would need actual WORK and MONEY, and we can磘 have any of THAT! :P

so yeah... any fun stuff i could do to them that won磘 require buyin new components? like that tonezone half-air mod, messing with the magnets or something?

i磛e raised and lowered polepieces to get a SLIGHTLY different sound, but the differences in doing this are tiny... i made the lower strings on the bridge pickup a little edgier, and the bright strings on the same pup a little warmer, and on the neck pup i made te lower strings clearer, and the higher strings fatter... although the differences are miniscule... i磛e also messed with pickup heights, but nothing major here either, so...

by the way, what do these pickups really sound like? is there a pickup i could buy that would do the same job as these, only sound a little better? :P

because if you have 创duncan designed创 pickups for instance, and it磗 a pickup modeled after a duncan JB, then you can buy a REAL duncan JB and it would sound alike, but BETTER :P

Re: pickup modifications?

Pics, people, pics! i磎 posting pics of what the pickups look like under the base plate, so you can tell me what磗 going on and what i can do to change the sound of these things...

side-view

inside

also inside

ok, so notice the shiny metal thingy between the coil on the right side and the middle magnet? is this what they call 创slugs创? there are two of these plate-thingies stacked on top of each other here... what do they do? :P

also, based on what you see, can the 创half-air创 mod be done here? or any other magnet modifications?
