Pickup questions, a few actually

I'm installing my EVO bridge into my custom guitar with a DiMarzio Chopper in middle and Fernandes FSK-401 Kit Driver in the neck,

My question to anyone that can help is:

How can i wire it properly,

What way does the EVO bridge go in, I don't know what way it goes in(i dont know what coil of the humbucker is the bridge side)

All help would be greatly appriciated

God Bless

the end where the wire comes out on the pickup is the side that shold be nearest to your control cavity.

Re: Pickup questions, a few actually

the evo can go either way. there is a subtle difference if the wire is top side toward the neck or if it is bottom side closer to the control cavity.

as for the sustainer , you'll either have to post what it looks like and the instructions or find a how to site that tells you. I dont know anything about them, or how different they are from a normal wiring setup

Re: Pickup questions, a few actually

Im installing the FSK101, and goes in the standard direction (wire on right), neck position, middle (wire bottom), bridge (wire on left), this is with looking at the back side or the pickguard.

To see this please refer to the Dimarzio Wiring Diagram.
http://www.dimarzio.com/media/diagra...1118787059.pdf

However, it might not be correct with your FSK, in trouble shooting if works in one mode, but not the others, means you have to flip it 180 degress, which means they had the magnet wrong inside.

Also make sure you follow the direction of how to reverse the wires with Dimarzio to a FSK,

Green - Hot
Red - ground
Connect Black & White

Refer to Fernandes wiring Diagram(same for 101 & 401)
http://www.fernandesguitars.com/manuals/FSK101.pdf

What about the Bare wire? I can see the black, white, red and green wires on the EVO bridge, but i think it has a Bare wire aswel, should that go to Ground, or is that the Black that i'm looking at?

Heres the back of mine with the FSK Driver humbucker, I still havent started to wire yet. Still routing the guitar for it.

Follow there wiring guide.

As for the bare wire, from the pot,it goes to the back of the trem as a ground.

Heres from my JEM (Evo & HS2), you can see the bare wire

as you know, the circuit board has places for those clips. How'd you connect the DiMarzio Wire's w/o the clips, Did you solder directly onto the board or poke them into the clip thing?

Re: Pickup questions, a few actually

I think I will use the clips because after I know its working, I have to take it all apart again so I can make the DRIVER/Humbucker white... it will be easier with the clips for me, but if I didn't have to mess with it I would of soldiered it. My only concern with soldiering to the board would be if it VOIDs the warranty. (which I don't know)

At least you are using the FSK401 which is already wired, you just have to get a pin puller, and get some new clips. (R-Shack)

---Support---
I have emailed them 3 times about questions and they still havent answered me, and also asked the vender which I purchased it from , they have not heard back... I heard Fernandes was moving their shop and so hopefully this is the reason for the poor customer support.

Re: Pickup questions, a few actually

Well, I guess I was wrong with R-shack they use to have this stuff, but I looked they dont have them, so I have to go to a real Electronices store to find them. I also will need a 3 pin female plug for my board, I must say Im very dissapointed in what they give you with the FSK101 kit.

They dont give the following need materials.
1. Templates for routing (battery Holder or to drill holes for the toggle switches)
2. Extra Pins & Female 3 pin connector for the 5 way toggle switch.
3. Wiring diagram for the Optional Master Tone (including 500k pot)

If I dont find anything soon, I guess I will have to solider to the board

Don't mean to thread jack here, but any chance you have a higher res pic of that wiring diagram? I have a sustainer I'm installing that I pull from a guitar, and it was so long ago, I completely forget how it was.

Thanks
Dave

Could you refer me to a website that might ship to New Zealand with those parts?

And i think the FSK401 circuit board might have enough Female ends right?

Soldering directly to the board isn't bad, aslong as you do it correctly (thats what Fernandes support told me)
