Pickup Suggestion

Hey,

I will be purchasing a maple neck-through guitar with alder body wings. I was thinking of installing the jb/jazz combo but I heard they might sound too bright when combined with those woods. Would they be too bright? I play mostly metal (Nightwish, Children of Bodom, Metallica). However, I want a clear and smooth neck tone. If not the jb/jazz, what do you recommend?

The D-Sonic in the bridge does kill but I only have experience with it in a mahogany-bodied guitar. As for the neck, I think the Air Norton would give you a smoother tone for leads and such but the PAF Pro/PAF Joe pickups would give you a clearer tone.
