Re: Pickup Upgrade

Paf Pro neck seems to be a popular choice around here. It's probably a matter of time until someone suggests Evos as well. I have no experience of them myself though, so can't offer an opinion.

The Bareknuckle Miracle Man set I have on my tele do a great metal tone, but get a bit thin on the cleans.

Re: Pickup Upgrade

shouldn't this thread be in the pickups & wiring section?

Dimarzio's: Dual Paf Pro's do wonders... Evo + Paf Pro neck... maybe a D-Sonic + Paf Pro neck?
BKP: check into a Nailbomb...

Jaden: how's that combo???? I had a Paf Pro to match with a D activator X and the Paf Pro's volume level couldn't match despite raising the pup as high as it needs to be [plus it looked odd with the neck pup higher than the bridge].

Re: Pickup Upgrade

If you're interested in DiMarzio's, My last favorite combo before I jumped ship was a Steve's Special in the bridge and a D-Activator Neck... um... in the neck.

If you're interested in trying something a bit nicer, spend the extra money and treat yourself to some Bare Knuckles. For your particular application, I'd recommend the Holy Diver set. (and tell them I sent you!)

cant get vext with paf-pro's especially in a basswood body guitar.think evo's sound better in a alder body guitar

Re: Pickup Upgrade

Evo sounded great with mahogany actually, it actually cuts down the harsh highs a bit. I prefer it on mahogany than alder.

Re: Pickup Upgrade

Steve's Special Air Norton I would say. You can change the AN for a Paf Pro or SS for D sonic. Or you can go the other way with BKP and try Miracle Man calibrated set
, I heard the demo on the site and loved the (Im poor and use Mexican pesos so they're not an option for me). Keep the 5 way, you can split coils or turn them to parallel configuration
