Pickups for my RG1570

Can anyone recommend a tight sounding bridge and neck pickup for my RG1570? I still have the stock V8 and V7 pickups in it and I'm tired of their muddy tone. I'm planning on putting an EVO2 in the bridge position and an EVO in the neck position, but I'm not sure if there are any other pickups I'd be happier with. I like pickups that are tight and bright sounding. I hate pickups that sound muddy on the lower strings; that's the reason I want to get rid of the stock pickups. And, am i supposed to buy an f-spaced pickup for the bridge position and the neck position?

Re: Pickups for my RG1570

I have a 1570 and I've put a tonezone in the bridge and a paf pro in the neck, sounds awesome but what sounds good to me may sound awful to you, choosing your pickups is a very personal thing, same as what's your preferred style of music, each to their own. As for the evo's you may struggle putting them in a 1570 as they're taller pickups, you may need to remove some wood from the body to fit them in. Have a look at the Dimarzio site and have a listen to the sample sounds of the different pickups, I don't think you can go wrong with an Ibanez/Dimarzio combination. You need to buy f spaced pickups for all 3 positions.

Do you think a PAF Pro in the neck position would balance well with an Evo2 in the bridge position. I'm wondering if the loudness of the Evo2 wouldn't balance well PAF Pro. Does anyone know if I need to buy F-space pickups for both positions?

You can't really go wrong with EVO's and yes they should fit fine. I had them in my JEM555 and they were great pickups and quite clear. I haven't tried the EVO2 but it should be just as good especially in basswood where you don't really need the extra highs. I have a mahogany guitar and a Tone Zone in the bridge and it's not the best match. It's much better than stock but not as defined as the Evolution in the lower notes especially.

You want a tight sounding pickup, the Evo would most likely be your choice for the bridge position and won't get muddy. Since the pickup is taller than a standard sized one, you have to tighten the mounting screws all the way in when installing the pickup, since your rg1570 is direct mount style. It'll still be closer to the strings than your stock pickup, but you should be fine as the pole pieces of the evo is flushed with the pickup, and your strings won't get in the way.

A neck pickup I would recommend would be the paf pro. They don't sound as fat as an evo or an evo2 neck, but I think in my opinion, the PAF Pro sounds much cleaner and balance well with the evo bridge.

The bridge pickup would be F-spaced and the neck pickup would be standard spaced in order for the pole pieces to match up close to the strings. To me F space or standard doesn't really matter, just the looks of it lining up to the strings to make it look even. I think its an aesthetic thing, and doesn't really do much or hardly anything at all to the sound. My PGM301 came with standard spaced Dimarzio pickups, which didn't line up perfect with the strings, but dang do they sound good!

You can tell I wasted alot of time and money on pickups and guitars to find the right matches. Any other questions, feel free to ask!

The standard V7, S1 & V8 pups on a 1570 are all f-spaced, I measured them before I bought my dimarzio's

I'm in the same position as you were when you started this thread. I'm just wondering what did you end up buying?

Yeap Paf pros works well with Evo2, I was a fan of evo neck when I keep on playing the paf pro in the neck I feel that evo neck was missing something. In fact paf pro neck is powerful enough to match any high output bucker.
