Pickups for RG1570

I was wondering... I now have an Evo2 in my bridge position, and want to place a PAF Pro in the neck (good idea?). But now for the middle pickup, the singlecoil, what would you guys recommend me? It shouldn't be a weak one in comparison to the neck and bridge ofcourse. Hope you can help me.

Re: Pickups for RG1570

klassky... what year is you 1570?
i got mine yesterday... but i thought that the little springs and help the pup get up were missing on the neck pup... so i made some minor adjustments and voila no more problemas... but then i got thinking what if the bridge pup was missing the springs too??? so i took a look and bam... they dont bring springs... my point is... did your 1570 had them?
and how does the evo2 sounds???
i was thinking of three possible choices:
1- paf pro all the way neck and bridge and the Fs-1 (like paul gilbert)
2- vai-ish!!! evo all the way
3- the setup the 3570 has...? air norton - true velvet - tone zone...

what do you think?

Re: Pickups for RG1570

Tone Zone will be too muddy. It's great for maple board guitars!

The Evo 2 is very middy. Excellent dynamics and articulation! My favourite bridge pickup.
2nd on list is SD's JB. Both are just great!

I have an RG-470 with Evo 2 and a PAF Pro. I won't change it for anything!
The PAF Pro is very rich harmonically and cuts through any amp or mix.
Other options: SD's '59 neck.

As with the middle... I love the HS-2. It's humcancelling and it's wired in split mode in positions 2 and 4. Great!

I tried PAF Pros on early JEMs and they also sound great in the bridge position, just a bit more "quiet" than the Evo 2.

The Evo2 is just as you describe, and less shrill sounding than (for example) the Evolution. And I'll check out that HS-2. Nice that it's humcancelling, and hope there won't be a big volume drop if I switch from bridge/neck to the singlecoil. But a PAF-pro in neck position will be a good choice I guess then...

Everybody always says the TZ is too muddy, but i've never thought so (I'm using it the bridge of my strat, mind u, which might be why). Unless you're referring specifically to the TZ in a basswood body, which I wouldn't have a clue about.

Re: Pickups for RG1570

Ironjose,

I recently exchanged the Dimarzio/IBZ humbuckers in my RG3520 with a Tone Zone (bridge) and Air Norton (neck) and couldn't be more happy with this combination.

Despite all the stories about the Tone Zone being "muddy", I am not experiencing this problem personally (pickups are mounted in a mahogany body).
