pickups for rg550?

I just bought a 1990 rg550. And I quickly realized I hate the bridge pickup. Both of my other guitars have duncan jb's, and have way more output.
And I got this guitar to play the metal songs my band does.Ozzy,Van Halen. And use the other guitars for the rock songs. So having less gain is the last thing I needed.

Before I go put Seymore Duncan JB's in it, I want to be open minded.Anyone have suggestions of a good pickup for the bridge for 80's metal type music.

Re: pickups for rg550?

Hey dude I gotta couple for ya. Sorry I'm a Dimarzio guy so that's what they are

1. Super Distortion Bridge, Paf Pro Neck, Hs-1 Middle
Very Good all around metal pickups.

2. Tone Zone Bridge, Paf Pro Neck, Hs-1 Middle
One of my personal favorites. Very good shred, Metal, and any other genre.

3. Evo Bridge, Neck, and Middle.
Great Distortion and harmonics, perfect for leads.

Shred has some nice combos I would suggest these also:

1.Dimarzio Crunch Lab Bridge, Liquifire Neck
That John Petrucci Crunch but still defined when you do a chord

2.Tone Zone Bridge,Air Norton Neck
A very nice combo for metal

3.Norton Bridge,Air Norton Neck
What Dimarzio recommended me for a 550 for an 80's metal sound

4.Fred Bridge,PAF Joe Neck
A combo that really works well in a basswood body great for hard rock/metal harmonics for days from the Fred you could also get a Mo Jo for the bridge which is an even hotter Fred kinda

if you like JB so much, you can't go wrong with TB6, distortion.

Re: pickups for rg550?

I swapped the stock pickups in my blue 550 for a set of green paf pro's and they worked wonders

Hey,

I have Super2 in da bridge and PafPro in da neck position. You are damn right about leaning towards super-d.
