Pickups suggestion

Hello,

I have an Rg 1527
and i have decided to get rid of those terrible v7 and v8s
and put in a tone zone for the bridge and an air norton for the neck

Would this be a good choice in pickups?

Im sorry if theirs threads already like this one i did a search but not much came up.

what kind of search did you do LOL.

Yes those are ok, but without an idea of what kind of music you plan to play, that's really the only answer you can expect to get.

Re: Pickups suggestion

Good point. I love the Air Norton in the neck but the ToneZone in a basswood body? All depends on what you want. I am using a Breed in a basswood RG and it roars, but you may want something a little more tame.

Unfortunately, Breed's don't come for sevens.

I have a D-Sonic and Air Norton in my 6 string, and I really love the sound of that.
Not sure how it would sound in a 7 though.

Re: Pickups suggestion

I love Tone Zones to death. I have them in the bridge position of my 3 "metal" guitars (basswood and alder bodies).

The Air Norton however, I am not as fond of. I tried in the the neck position of a guitar and found it too be too dark which I don't like in the neck position. I prefer a brighter pickup with less mids and bass than the Air Norton. My favorite humbucker neck pup right now is the PAF Joe. It sounds a lot more clear and articulate compared to the Air Norton and gets more of that bubbly Yngwie tone.

Then again, it all depends on what kind of sound you're looking for.

i second that. the TZ-7 sounds horrible in basswood. go with the blaze custom. the air norton is amazing in the neck, tho. i have it in 4 out of 5 of my 7's. the TZ-7 i have in my 2 rg7's with mahogany bodies.
