Question

Pickups with no vol pot - possible?

I'm trying to do a guitar with just the Pickups straight to the jack, via no volume pot or tone. Is that possible?

I tried with a HB directly to the jack but the noice was overwhelming.
I din't earth anything though.

How would the schematics look like?

Re: Pickups with no vol pot - possible?

idk know if it is possible. i am assuming your using one pickup. you will need to just wire the hot from the pickup to the tip of the output jack. then you will need to gound the output jack sleeve and also ground the pickup. the grounds should not be ground directly together, if they are soldered together they could make a rawdio antenna. I recomend maybe sticking a screw in the electronics cavity and ground to that.

hope this helps, i will work on a wiring diagram for you later. i am at school right now so i cant.

2 HB's.

I'm planning to use a Stereo Jack for placing the two different pickups on separate channels.
How would that be done?

To facilitate Stereo/mono cable use, how would that be constructed (with a 2-way Switch) to get the stereo signal mono?

are you wanting a two way switch for each channel of just one to switch between the channels?

Re: Pickups with no vol pot - possible?

if you are wanting just one switch the go between the channels you will need to buy a on-on DPDT toggle switch. That switch has 3 rows of two lugs on it.

To wire it up with one 2-way DPDT switch you will have to do as follows.

1. install stereo jack.
2. locate bridge and neck pickup hot wires.
3. locate the tip and the ring of the stereo jack.
4. connect two seperate wire from the tip and ring.
5. here's the bridge pup wiring. choose any two of the outside lugs on the DPDT switch.
it should lok like this.
- - bridge
- - not used(may be used as a ground, not sure)
- - neck

6. here's the correct wiring.
Bridge Pickup Hot - - Tip from output
- -
Neck Pickup Hot - - Ring from Output

7. Then just ground everything.

if you cant understand what i wrote i will draw something.

It's seems pointless if you will only ever run one channel at once, just switch the sound between the mono signal like normal. If you want dual sound then use a jack for each pickup like with peizo guitars.

Re: Pickups with no vol pot - possible?

Both HB's are allways going to be active simultaneously.
The stereo option sends HB 1 to left and HB 2 (or a SC) to right.
The switch is for when you want both HB's to one channel - mono.

"the grounds should not be ground directly together.... I recomend maybe sticking a screw in the electronics cavity and ground to that."
More info on this please.

Tell more on the grounding thing.

Ok, well like I said, two jacks will work best.

well just screw a screw somewhere in the rear cavity and ground the pickups to it. and also the other grounds. maybe use more than one screw. you just dont want to solder all of them together.
