PLEASE HELP! What kind of Ibanez pickups are these?!?!

Hello, I have trying to find out what kind of Ibanez these came out of and what they are called if anyone knows.
The person I bought them from didn't know, as they were just parts they had lying around.
Any information would really be helpful!

Thank you

They were cheap enough and I've never seen them before! Why else? Haha

Re: PLEASE HELP! What kind of Ibanez pickups are these?!?!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I just bought an S with a Mahogany body so I'm sure it will sound better in that than the basswood body of that guitar.
But I appreciate it so much! I kept looking at different models on Ibanez's parts site but never thought it would be a Gio. Go figure haha.

Re: PLEASE HELP! What kind of Ibanez pickups are these?!?!

I will! Thanks!

Also, by any chance, is there a way to coil tap two wire humbuckers?
I don't think so since there is only one hot and one GND :/

I don't think I would use the coil taps anyway if they sound good!

Re: PLEASE HELP! What kind of Ibanez pickups are these?!?!

no, unfortunately you can't tap them. there's a SMALL possibility that the north and south finishes are exposed under the cover, but I doubt it. If they are and you can manage to solder on a long lead, you can split them (coil tap).

If you got the pups cheap enough they might be fun to experiment with. I'd talk to LonePhantom about all of his pickup mods.......he might have something cool to try on those.

Edit: I forgot Stephen's link.......... http://www.lonephantom.com/

or PM him here on Jemsite:

Awesome! I definitely appreciate all the help!
I can actually see where the wire is, because it's pushing through that black stuff and when it hardened got set there.
So I could probably sand it down a bit to get to it and then do what you suggested!
I never thought of that!

Your welcome man.......be warned that trying to solder that close to the coil could damage it permanently. You'll need to have a steady hand and good soldering skills.

Oh, wow, well thanks for the heads up!
I didn't know that.

I think I'm pretty good at soldering, I've done my fair share of soldering circuit boards for college projects :/
Haha

I'll just be extra careful with this one!

Re: PLEASE HELP! What kind of Ibanez pickups are these?!?!

I've owned the Ibanez GRG220DEX for about 4 years now. I've modified the pickups; the neck a DiMarzio Multibucker, and the bridge a DiMarzio Tone Zone.

I brought it to a shop to solder the new buckers, but they forgot to label which of the standard (STD-C1[or C2]) humbuckers that came with the GRG220DEX in the beginning.
I've checked the Ibanez website for the parts but they only show the model 3PU1S3CB for both the pickups, but this must be wrong as they do make different rhythm and lead sounds.

So I'd like to know which is which. The only evidence I can differentiate between the two is that one has Red wiring and the other White.

Re: PLEASE HELP! What kind of Ibanez pickups are these?!?!

Hello, the red wire is your bridge pickup, and the white wire is your neck.
As evident by the length of the wires on mine.
The red is super short, and the white is really long.
I hope this helps!

Re: PLEASE HELP! What kind of Ibanez pickups are these?!?!

Thanks a lot.

I've actually thought about this question after I changed the pickups a couple of months after I got the guitar. The standard ones that came with it were too plain in sound. I'm more into that specific sound of distortion the Multibuckers make.

I'd like to link this thread that proves your reply:
forums/f35/another-pickup-wiring-resource-thread-110579-3.html
(Add the jemsite website before the address)

I'm going to change them back to their standard pickups and hang this guitar on the wall, because they do look good, especially with that mark on the covers.

Again, thanks.
