Ibanez HH Pickup advice please...

I have an Ibanez RGT42 with Infinity HH pickups.
I'm considering changing them to give me better grunt on the bridge pup & a nice clean sound from the neck one.

Any ideas.....?

Cheers, Craig

Re: Pups advice for me RGT42 please...

Alot of folks like the Duncan JB/59 set in neck through mahogany guitars. Or maybe the DiMarzio Evo2/Paf Pro?

Rock on!

Re: Pups advice for me RGT42 please...

Well I have a Tone Zone in my bridge and I've been fairly happy but I'm about to move it to the neck and get something new for the bridge. It's not that I don't like it but it lacks a bit of clarity for fast metal type stuff especially in the lower notes. It has a really great thick tone for leads and less hard stuff though. I was set on the Evolution for the bridge but I'm also considering the X2N and I'll probably decide in the next couple days. I had EVO's before in my JEM555 and they were nice. I had an EMG 81 in the bridge of my RGT42 that I put in right when I bought the guitar but when I started paying more attention to my tone I realized the EMG is lacking in tone and has a more precise sterile sound. Being a mahogany body it's a bit different choosing pickups since most Dimarzios are put in basswood bodies.

how about the dimarzio d-activator? They seem to be good for mahogany, lthe xiphos comes stock with them.

Re: Pups advice for me RGT42 please...

Don't mean to thread steal but I've been thinking about this upgrade as well but I have an early rgt42 Black pearl which is supposed to have a basswood body instead of the mohagany.

For bridge its gonna be mid to high gain metal, im looking for tight lows, less highs, high output= thinking duncan invader.

for neck thinking mostly used for clean and jazzy/blues tones so something fat.
