Recommend A Good Middle Pickup

Hello
Ive got a RG350DX that I slapped a tone zone in the bridge, humbucker from hell in the neck and now Im looking for a good middle pickup to complete it. Any advice?
I'm leaning toward the Area 58, 61 or Virtual Vintage series.

Currently, the output in the 2 and 4 position drops a bit with the stock single, so I was thinking something with better output, and I wanted to get some strat-like quack as well. Maybe something that responds to the pick attack more versus a full on hot output chopper or blade pickup. Also I really like the idea of the hum-cancelling Area or Virtual series so I've narrowed it down a bit. Im going for a Paul Gilbert GOOMY/SILENCE sound. I should mention I use a 500k vol pot (no tone), and do you guys recommend reverse wound and all that?

Anybody use the Area or Virtual series in the middle 2-3-4 position? Anybody out there have a TZ+HFH+? combo????

thanks!
GEE

You can't possibly go wrong with a HS-2.

But how would you wire the HS-2 to be able to take advantage of the stacked single coil in position 3 yet split it and have hum canceling in positions 2 & 4?

By using a super switch i.e. a VLX91, the idea is to turn off "half" of the single coil in positions 2 & 4.
This was posted in another thread but the solution is this diagram

Thanks, I didn't think it would work with the stock switch so that solves that problem. On a side note, is there another pickup someone could recommend that would work as well as the HS-2 without having to use a super switch? Just trying to keep the wiring as simple as can be.

Bingo. This is how I got my HSH RG wired! (PAF Pro/HS-2/Evo 2)

You won't be able to "not use" a super switch to pull that stunt.
If you want to keep your existing switch, either you keep your pickup "always on" (always stacked, no coil tap) or you keep it "always off" (single coil mode all the time).
