I love the Air Norton in the neck position when theres a hot humbucker in the bridge. Its really creamy and open sounding - contrasts very well!

Re: Recommend a good neck pick up

I recently put a HFH in the neck of an already bright sounding Jem and the jury is still out. It can be super bright and has it's moments, much clearer than the Air Norton but it seems that to get the best sparkly sound it seems that I really have to attack the strings hard. That's not how I play for better or worse so I don't feel I'm getting the most out of it.

Well I have a sustainer in the neck of my guitar and it sounds decent plus the cray **** that the sustainer does any way and they can do metal if that is what you are going for. Also I would go with a PAF pro you really can't go wrong with that pickup its really versatile.

Re: Recommend a good neck pick up

Dimarzio PAF pro is a very popular neck pickup. I know Paul Gilbert uses it in the neck. However I don't think you could go wrong with the Air Norton either.
