Removing Duncan logo

I want to get a pair of Duncans for my LP but I don't want to ugly it up with Duncan logos on the pups.

I've used Goo Gone on a Dimarzio single coil cover to remove their logo and it worked really well. You can barely see where the logo was.

However, because the Duncans don't have a cover, I don't want to take a chance on messing up the pickup itself. I know I can order the pup without a logo but then I'd have to wait which I don't want to do unless I have to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Removing Duncan logo

I have heard that nail polish remover takes it off, but I haven't done it myself.

Yeah that would work but nail polish is more powerful than Goo Gone. The acetone in the nail polish could very easily eat away at the plastic. Plus, the Duncan bobbins are shiny and at the very least, I would surmise that the nail polish would take that sheen off where the logo was.

Regarding this technique, do you speak from personal experience? Have you done this yourself?

You might want to use a drop on a Q-tip, rather than submerge it in the stuff

Well yeah, I didn't plan on soaking the thing overnight. I'm still traumatized from a childhood incident in which I tried to pot a Dimarzio X2N and destroyed the pickup. Now I'm very careful with them.

00000 grade steel wool should do the trick.

I can confirm this works. Very cleanly too, almost like it was never there. But you need the steady hands of a cnc machine to get it done with no scratches, so beware.

Any mild polish will remove it. Personally I use 3M plastic polish on mine...

I've done this when I first got my RG it came with INF pickups, you dont wan't to do cutting you just need to finely scratch the corner of the blade over the words.
