Replacement of V7 in neck, RG 1570

Has anyone replaced the V7 in the neck of their RG?

Quite frankly in my opinion the V7 sucks, the V8 seems ok in the bridge, good response and harmonics, smooth drive - but in my 1570 the V7 neck almost sounds tinny.

It adds a level of bass to the sound but nothing warm and fat enough, not a full sound, something is definitely lacking and it has to go, so, to the point - what pickup did you good people chose to replace it?

I usually opt for Dimarzio pickups, but I'm open to Seymours as well, I've played with Evolution Necks a lot and like them, I've played with Seymour Duncan full shred neck pickups too.

On the Dimarzio site it recommended to me a liquifire, an air norton and a breed neck with the specs I put in and the sound I wanted to create. I dislike the breed's intensely, I had a listen to the liquifire and the sample was absolutely awful and I wasn't massively taken by the air norton. I appreciate the latter is very popular coupled with a tone zone.

So, any recommendations?

I want:

Fat sounding
Warm sounding
Bassy sounding
Ability to bring out tapping and runs well without overly distorting

At the moment I'm just opting towards an evolution neck as I always do, but just wanted to get a feel to see if I'm potentially missing out on something special.

Cheers!

I have breeds in my 77BRMR and my 77VBK... I'm not a fan.

Ever tried a Seymour Duncan. Hotrails pickup?

I have to say I share your opinions on those pickups and tend to go for either Evo necks or PAF Pros. the PAF Pro is a slightly more glassy cutting sound, but as a neck pickup for tapping, I don't know anything better.

@ Death.by.G-string: My counterpart guitarist in the band I play in uses a strat with those pickups and they do sound very nice. I'm not putting a single coil humbucker into a guitar with an F space humbucker hole though

@ Jono: Aye I think I'm just going to stick with the EVO neck, I do love it I was just after something a little different, or potentially something a bit special that I might be missing out on. Case in point, I discovered the super 3 and as much as I love the EVO bridge the mids and clarity from the Super 3 cut through like nothing else I've used before.

Try the duncan invader in the neck. I had that set up before on my Rg and it had balls. Loved it too bad the invader is such an ugly looking pickup.

After years with Breeds and Air Nortons in the neck, I couldn't be happier with Evolutions. I was afraid they would sound like a 7VWH, but they sound great in my RG570.

Re: Replacement of V7 in neck, RG 1570

I've decided to go with:

Evolution DP159 in the neck
SD Invader SH-8 in the bridge.

If the bridge choice doesn't work out I'll switch back to the V8 as I actually don't mind it.
Hoping the Invader plus my Engl Invader will er... nah can't think of a joke. Hopefully it'll pack major balls.
