Question

Replacing the PU's in my RG2570

Hi there guys,
I was thinking about replacing the Stock-Pickups of my RG2570 (Ibz/Dimarzio) with something that has a little more clarity and does not sound as muddy as these sometimes tend to do.
My first pick would have been a combination of evo 2 bridge, evo middle and evo neck since
i heard good things about them, although I also stumbled across the unsettling remark, that those are too "big" to fit into normal pu-holes.
My Question now would be, if this Combination is a good idea, whether or not this rumor with them being to big is true, and if there are other combinations that you think I should consider.
For example I also thought about a X2N/D-activator, but I was told that these do not sound too well in basswood bodies.
Help would be appreciated

Re: Replacing the PU's in my RG2570

There are indeed some accounts of various DiMarzio pickups not fitting in various Ibanez RGs. Personally I've never witnessed this myself.

I've dropped Evos into RGs before with no trouble.

As you've stated you're after more clarity, I'd suggest lower output pickups like the Fred, PAF Pro, PAF Joe and Mo'Joe, these have the traditional DiMarzio sound but stay clear even through heavier gain.

Many folks like the tone Zone and Air Norton, combination, but I find that too muddy for my tastes.

Re: Replacing the PU's in my RG2570

Well, surginf the Net I developped a crazy idea, but I don't know if it is also a good one:
I found some Reviews, Stating that the EVO 2 sounds great in the NECK position.
Could anyone validate this?
And know the idea has manifested, that there might be a way to combine the X2n in bridge position with the EVO2 in Neck positon.
Any opinions to that?
BTW, what should I use in Middle positiom (Single Coil)

I play mostly Metal ( Metallica, Sabbath, Dragonforce...) and Steve Vai.
So I am looking for a pickup to producee great Hi-Gain SOund along with some more quiet, Vai-ish sounds.
Greetings
