Rewiring an RG for clean and open sound

Hello,

Got a basswood RG570 with PAF Pro, SS1 and Super3 and would like to rewired it to open it, clean it, "reduce output" it as much as possible, ...

I have two switches available: a megaswitch model E and 5 way, multipole one.

Coil split obviously but could you please provide me with suggestions and diagrams ?

The idea is to try to emulate strat/tele tone w/o changing pickups. Am I dreaming ...?

Thanks you all

hmm, thats a toughie, you could try a mod site and see if they have what you are looking for, they usually have the schematics to help you out.

Try running the humbuckers in parallel. You will get less output, more highs, and an overall "cleaner" sound. You may have to play with the pickup heights some, as the volume of the humbuckers will change quite a bit.

Do yourself a favor and throw a couple of these in it. I know you said you didnt want to change pickups but I think it would be the best thing for trying to achive your goal tone.

The OP should take that one step further and wire in an on-on-on(DPDT) switch so he can switch between Series, Parallel, and Coil split.
