RG Prestige 1570

Hi everyone!

I recently got this baby in my hands, neck and body are in A++ condition but the guy who had it before me didn't actually played on it very much so I it has that annoying rust on pickup bobbins.
I am not really satisfied with stock V8 pickup on a bridge, and I would like to change it.I have singlecoil S1 in middle and I have this ooooooold old DiMarzio humbucker in neck position but I have some big problems identifying it...
I took it out to see is there any model indication on it,but there is no that familiar "DP XXX" engraved on it.It only says:"Dimarzio Pickups.Made In USA".
Pickup looks like Super Distortion,it's black and has that Super Distortion - like bobbins.God knows what could it be.

Anyways,I want to change my pickups.

I am mostly playing metal, and I need good combination you could reccomend me that works fine in 1570.
What I want from pickup is to be good for soloing primarily.
It's important for me that it has very good harmonics(i am using a lot of pinch harmonics and stuff),to have screaming, but tight and expressive sound.
In neck I like it to be more bassy like, with more chunk, good for sweep picking and faster scale runs.

I am mostly a legato player,so I would need pickups that have a good clarity and harmonics when doing it.

I already have the Tonezone(bridge) / Air Norton(neck) combination on my second RG,and I am satisfied with it,but I am also looking forward to try something else that works good...so I'll appreciate any suggestion.
That combination sounds slightly dark, and I get really fat and chunky sounds with it.TZ is a great pickup,btw...in my guitar it sounds fat but also has excellent harmonics.Something I didn't expect from such a dark sounding pickup
Maybe it is a bit darker than I prefer, but that's probably because I use "darker" EL84 powered amp.Even Fender look dark through one of these babies... :-)

In middle I would like to have a vintage like single coil that I would use only for cleans and clean chording...it's important that it's hum cancelling.

thanks!;-)

Re: RG Prestige 1570

As funny as it may sound, I have an RG570 here with an 81 bridge, SA middle, 85 neck, and it sounds damn good. Pretty good combo all around for everything, really. I'm not sure if you're even considering that route...

It's really hard to say. PAF Joe in neck sounds pretty much like what you described. And the Mo Joe is a great bridge pickup as well.

If this helps you any... the Mo Joe/PAF Joe combo sounds more mid scooped than a TZ/AN combo.

And I am a huge fan of the FS-1 single coil, eventhough it's not hum canceling. It is brilliant for cleans.
