RG1527 noise machine!!! please help..

Hi everyone,

I've got a RG1527 that produces a lot of electrical noise/hiss! ..I've tried to resolder everything twice and shielded the pot cabinet with thick grounded aluminum foil! I've also added a thick ground wire going from the trem, through the pots and to the jack. The noise changes with the 5 way switch. If I touch the strings, the noise decreases. If I turn the tone pot in bass position, the noise also decreses/becomes "darker".

It's not the amp, - I've tried other guitars and other amps etc.

Any suggestions how to solve this?

Thanks

Thomas

Hi Friends, thanks for your replies.

I've tried rewire everything and did change the pots, but didn't helped.

I've also tried to solder the pickups directly to the jack, which didn't helped. So I guess it has to be the pickups..

Thanks

Thomas

Agreed with rewiring and please do not shield with thick aluminium foil you'll lose all your high that way and the guitar will sound unnatural.

Hi Mi2tom!

I've tried to solder the pickups directly to the jack, which do not help. Could it be that the pickup cable are somehow damaged?

Thomas

I'm not very good at explaining things in words, I suggest you taking it to a guitar tech asap!

you sometimes get noise when your jack lead crosses over a power cable, say for an effects pedal... could be that?
