RG270 single hum/volume wiring

hey board
im having some issues wiring my RG270, heres the way I have it now
i cant get it to work, all I get is static, and when I hit a string or even touch anything, i act like a killswitch, heres how I wired it.

any help? im using the stock neck hum in the bridge and wiring to a single volume pot. no tone or switches.

Have you got the bare wire to ground too? The red wire is the coil tap wire. Running it to ground taps the coil. Try running the bare wire to ground and leaving the red wire unhooked and taped off.

you mean connect the bare wire to the cable the red wire is connected to now and run that to the ground?

never mind, I found out that the wires sticking out of the pup were ripped....

According to the 2000 270 wiring diagram (I used 2000 since my boy has a 2000 270DX), the white and ground wires are the humbucker wires and the red is the coil tap wire. This cuts the path to ground to use only one coil. You can look at it like this:
