RG4EXFM1 Wiring

Hey all, I have been switching out tone pots to 250K in my RG's and I did the RG4 last night. I figured while I was doing it, I would replace the volume pot that was hard to turn. The only thing I had though was the 500K pot that I took out of the tone position of my RG370. Wired it up (after figuring out that I had the bridge and neck wrong) and when I plugged in, got a pleasant surprise (no did not get shocked)

If I turn the volume low on the guitar, it cleans up very nicely, even with a higher gain setting on the amp. Crank the volume and it get mean very quickly.

The only bad thing that I noticed was that the tone got a lot more middy, to the point where I had to adjust it down on the amp.

Did I do something right or wrong? I have just never noticed such a big difference in the volume control before. Would a change make it more mid pronounced?

Re: RG4EXFM1 Wiring

the 500k potentiometers are used with humbuckers to ad more highs to the sound. 250k pots are used with single coils to add warmth to the sound.

250k pots leak the most amount of signal to the ground than 500k or 1meg potentiometers.
