rg570 pup hell!

What was going to be a simple pickup replacement turned into pure hell for me this week.

I walked into my local G.C. this week and saw a lace red/silver dual in the clearance bin for 30 bucks (nib) so I snatched it up. My neck v1 had died a long time ago so I wanted to toss it in there (yea I know it's a bridge pup). Well long story short, my stock 89 5 way got hosed and my beloved s.d.trembucker dropped a wire (internal) so I messed that up that too...
btw.... the lace sounded like crap (tinny) in ful h.b. mode in the neck but sounded GREAT in single coil (silver) neck/s1 (2 on 5 way). Guess that red is really hot and suckes the life out of the silver?

So now I need some help. I have an "all parts" replacement 5 way,my stock s1 and a new lace red/silver. I would like advice on what to do from here. I can either toss the lace in the bridge and buy another "neck"pick up. Or go balls out and get all new pickups and another (good) 5 way and be done with it.What is a good pup combo. for the 570?
I messed this up one time and don't want to go there again. Any layout diagrams would be a BIG help too.I would like to use the new 5 way I have if I could.Need a cut and paste sort of deal as I am pulling my hair out now... Looking for a "DO THIS,AND THIS" sort of thing.
Thanks in advance.I can solder well (have a nice hakko station) just need some guidance as I am new to this whole split/phase/north/south thing....

Jim

There's a start. Also, I think Duncan will repair pickups if you mail them.

Any good pick up combos for the 550/570 that you all like?
I might just shoot for the moon and do all three now.
