S1520...suggestions?

I have been agonizing about which pups to put in my S1520 for quite awhile now. I know I want a full, versatile sound (from metal to blues). I liked the FRED/PAFPro combo mentioned on an earlier thread, except for the low output of the FRED. Many people have suggested the Super 3 and Super 2. Are these versitile as well as powerful? Another set that caught my eye are the Breeds. Would these fit the bill? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Breeds. Noooooooooo!!!

Just kidding.

I haven't played them, but there must be a reason they come stock in JEMs. I threw evolutions into my rg550 and LOVE the tone. They are killer and harmonics absolutely scream. Not to disuade you now that you've made a decision, just my opinion.

To help me better understand...what kind of stuff do you guys play? I think the Breeds would suit the broad range of sounds I like.

And you find the Super2 and Super 3 very versitile for those influences?

They are very hot, but they split very nice too and you can also rollback your volume a little. But after all this combo makes it best in fussion or rock situations

What a coincidence. I just suggested Breeds on the other topic

Basically, they´re not as hot as Evos, but they´re better balanced, good for full chords, some palm-muting and shredding, and sounds a little vintage, like a hotter PAF Pro.

Hey, I loved the PAF ! I played a Jem 777 Desert Sun Yelloy and
it sounded sweet !!!

Thanks Leandro. Would you suggest the Breed set, or combining others...eg. FRED/Breed? Does the neck Breed have a good bluesy tone? How does the Breed bridge compare to the Tone Zone? (I have this in my RG) I always use the neck pup for bluesy stuff and the bridge pup for heavier stuff.

you´re welcome

2 Breeds.

yes, it´s good for blues. Don´t know about jazz, or any other really heavy metal variation.

The Breed isn´t as hot, not as bassy, but the middle is pratically the same. (comparing to the TZ)

btw, I love RGs too !

I have just asked dimarzio's teach about a pair of humbukers having a very flexible combination of sounds for a mahogany guitar and he told me to try Breed Neck/Evo Bridge
