Should I keep or change
So I've been checking into buying new pickups for a while. I was going to do it and then it fell through and then it happened again. But in the mean time I've been playing my RG560 a ton and the stock Ibanez V2 humbucker ans S1 single coils don't sound bad at all, in fact, I think I like their sound quite a bit. Am I just getting used to it, not hearing them compared to a better setup? Am I limiting what I could have sonically by sticking with these pickups? Would my guitar sound a lot better with DiMarzios or Duncans?

Dimarzios and Duncans are "generally" better pickups.
But if you
like
the sound of the stock pickups, why bother going to the expense of changing them? Do you have another similair guitar you can try put new pickups in to compare?

Nope. I can try J-Cusoms and JS and JEMs and so on but is that really a good enough comparison?
Here, even though the Japanese make excelent guitars, Fender and Gibson and now PRS reign supreme so all of my guitar "friends" are into those guitars. They've never even thought about Ibanez or Pickups. Well that and the fact that a new DiMarzio cost about $300 here.
But I'd like to be able to compare like for like to see if their is something I'm missing.

Re: Should I keep or change
I had no issues with the stock DiMarzio/ibz humbuckers in my RG2550 but settled with the Evo neck and
Tone Zone
as they sounded better to me.
However, a few days ago I installed the stock ibz pickups in a Jackson (
alder body
) just for fun and it brought that guitar to life!! I guess what I'm trying to say is no harm in experimenting, you never know what you'd like better unless you try it.

Re: Should I keep or change
try a swap. alot of times, we do get used to the way a guitar does things. my first bit of advice is to try out a bunch of guitars that have aftermarket pickups and see what you like. make sure to take note in as many features of those particular guitars as possible to see how they compare to yours. that will help you to decide what type of pickup your looking for. if possible, bring your amp and guitar to the shop, too, so you can have a control group. just tell the shop owner that your trying out guitars(not pickups...you won't be lying). most shop owners will work with you, many won't even pressure you to buy.
