Hi everyone I'm new to these forums. I started playin on a strat imitation about 2 years ago and haven't looked back, & I picked up this RG270 the other day. I play thrash & psychadelic metal mainly (or at least I try to

), and can't get enough of fat chunky powerchord riffs & fast trippy melodies.
I've been starting to spend a lot (relatively) on my gear lately, and I'm gonna nose dive into modding this axe. I know a lot of you snuff your noses at the cheaper korean guitars, but I like it a lot, plus I plan on eventually having a whole family of modded guitars so this is just a learner for me :P As most of you would know, the woods used in the guitar are a basswood body, maple neck &
rosewood fingerboard & as you can see it's a HSH setup without a pickguard.
I haven't done that much research on pickups, but the active EMGs really get me going (huge JH / KH fan!!

). I've read a lot of info on HSS or HH setups with the EMGs but not sure which ones to go for. I've listened to the mp3s on the EMG website a lot (bearing in mind guitars sound different, and these were all recorded on the bridge), and I really didn't like the EMG-60 that much. The 81 would sound good on the neck but I wouldn't want it in the
bridge position going by the sound clip of it there. The 85 sounds great imo I really, really liked it a lot.
From the S,SA and SV single pickups, The SA sounds ok, but I prefer the SV that sounds awesome!. Sadly they didn't have sound clips of the S pickup on the site but by their description sounds similar to the SV? If the S pickup sounds similar to the SV I would probably go for that.
I have never had a HH or HSH axe before this one, so not sure which one to put on the neck. Regarding the 89's, do they really sound similar in dual mode to the 85? I could go a 85-S-89 setup to make the most of the dual/single humbucker. What does it sound like on single mode? Dammit too many possibilities
Any input (or questions) would be awesome guys, I know the majority of posts in this forum are already EMG, and if you have a good link plz post it, but I haven't come accross much on HSH setups yet.
Also if you feel something else like the SD range of pickups could cure my thirst for hard, vicious metal please feel free to steer me in the right direction
