Re: Shred Pickup

Well, ive been thinking about it and aside from all the really high gain shred stuff i do play more...calm music So do you thinka set of Breeds will cover me? My amp is pretty trebly as is so i though a Breed might be able to counter act that a bit, and still be great for leads and rythms. Im going to be buying (or at least, trying, incase GC in syracuse doesnt have them) This weekend so i though i might as well ask again here.

Plus Andy F'ing Timmons uses breeds!! haha

Go acoustic and forget all this stupid pickup talk. We can see your having trouble making up your mind.

*waves hand* these arn't the pickups you are looking for now move along.

Re: Shred Pickup

the evolution has an extermly tight bass responce and the highs can get shrill. I am in the process of trading for an evo 2 but i dont care for the evolution.

Re: Shred Pickup

Has anyone tried the Seyour Duncan SH-6 (Duncan Distortion) or SH-8 (Invader) in the bridge for shred? I'm looking to put one of these in the RG2820 I'm getting tomorrow

Re: Shred Pickup

If your going with the Evo/ISCV2/Evo neck check Sigler on ___y.
Thay sell as a set for cheaper than individual and you can customize with them as to the colors you want. Awesome service for me so far with them!

A friend of mine has breeds in his jems, he's great and sounds good, but he finds the breeds to be a fairly bland pickups and tbh i agree.

Try the modern evo set, I'm going to recoomend it on top of everyone else. its a very versatile set, and even though it does have a bright character it rolls off very nicely with touch tone and controls.

Re: Shred Pickup

Hmm, i always thought the Breeds sounded pretty fat and warm...well, Hopefully they will have at least one JEM There (And a jem with breeds if im reallly lucky) Because i already know what Evo2 sound like, but i have yet to hear a Evo in person, and i havent heard a breed in person either. Just youtube stuff. Ill probobly either go with

Evo2-cant afford to change single coil right now - Evo neck
OR
Breed- - Breed

Thanks for everyones help!! I really appreciate it. ill report back tuesday and let you all know what i ended up getting (if anything at all)

Re: Shred Pickup

^ Full Shred Model? Ive heard them a couple times, they sound pretty good. kinda Trebly to my ears though, mighta been the amp.

And, i Got a Tone Zone for my bridge and PAF Pro for the neck When i asked for Breeds, they didn't have any, and then asked for Evo neck and Evo2 bridge, they said they only had the Evo bridge, not Evo2 so i asked them what they had. It was Tone Zone, PAF Pro, and a Super Distortion. I opted for the Tone Zone because my amp is annoyingly trebly. I think the pair will suit me great Thanks to everyone who suggested pickups!

In the past couple of years, Joe has replaced the FRED with the Mo' Joe pickup in the bridge in all of his guitars, and I believe he still uses PAF Pros in the necks of his JS 1000's, and that the Joe is only in the neck of the JS 1200. I installed the Mo Joe in my JS 1200 and it's a great shred pickup. I think there is a misconception though that you need super high output humbucking pickups to shred with....Check out shredders like Reb Beach...He can rip amazing solos on his signature Suhr with single coils.

Re: Shred Pickup

hi,i have 2 low class guitars,g270 and rg350dx,and i upgrade tone zone(bridge) and paf pro(neck) pickups in rg270 and vai evo's in rg350(in the middle blue velvet),and solution for heavy combo is deffinitly rg270 combo, heavy chunky sound, great for legato playing and fast picking solos, creamy conected tones, and tone is never end....and paf pro is cool becouse it sound dryer(but heavy) with lots of bases and it can provide clearer and separated heavy tones in neck position, compare to the muddy solos from other neck position pickups.....About evos, they wrilly scream and sound healthy and loud, but they are upgraded vintage pickups, its hard for me toPlay legato stuff, tones are separated, they dont have much gain, and when you get them gain, through pedal(becouse you want some dzk,dzk sound),they begin to sound muddy and still you need to hit strings much harder for some chunky,chunky...youHave 2simpliest guitars, and great pickups, the best way to see which pickup can afford what,ALONE(without great wood, string through, floyd, neck, neckThrough, electronic help).Ofcourse, more quality guitar=increased quality of pickup sound.About original evos sound on youtube...man give me one video which is not with turn on(heavy gain pedal, sustainer, delay, chorus, noise gate, pre amp,amp,....all turned on).I'm feeling great for hearing guiar-cable-amp pickup sound.
