So I put a Tone Zone in my RG570

and it sounds........................pretty much the same lol

it replaced the V2 and maybe it sounds a little better if you listen REAL close, but if it was changed and i didnt know, i probably wouldnt notice the difference.

Re: So I put a Tone Zone in my RG570

I recently put in a TZ replacing a F2, and i prefer the F2. From all the hype, i was expecting more from this pup. I will eventually trade/sell it and try something else.

Yup, I think me and you have spoken about this already Anne, but I felt the same way about the TZ. I was expecting so much more than I got. Muddy, bassy, bleh. Not for me. I'd rather use a clear, articulate pickup and maybe one that isn't so hot and boisterous, then allow the amp to do the work of beefing it up.

Re: So I put a Tone Zone in my RG570

i didnt find it that hot.. lol, well it was hot but not hot enough for me i have a s470 for metal, i think im going for evo's next time.
I like the dual resonance part, kinda sounds nice, the high notes sorta sound weak imo and it was slightly too bassy too

s470 for metal = dimarzio Super 3

Try it and you I'll fall in love.

i'll check that out
i was thinking evos' cause i like the tone zone but i want a bit more output and less bass and i wasnt sure if super distortion would be too hot
or else i've been interested in de-activators

Re: So I put a Tone Zone in my RG570

for me Norton and Super3 sounds similar. Super3 is hot, but have a very nice singin voice when you roll back the volume pot. Evo is a very nice pickup, I have an Evo2 in my RG570, I also have a s450 and for me evo is not a "metal" pickup, at least not for rithm gtr.

Re: So I put a Tone Zone in my RG570

I replaced my SuperDistortion with a Tone Zone.

I prefer the Super Distortion to be honest, but I sold it.

Since I lack any talent whatsoever I have no more plans of replacing it.

So anyone in the NL looking for a 02 RG570EX (CPK)...

Sorry, did you put it in the neck or bridge? Not sure about the V2 etc position.

Re: So I put a Tone Zone in my RG570

Tone Zone is a lot of hype...I too find it too muddy and not defined well..for the same type of tone without mud and with better definition->Air Zone..for even little more definition but not so fat and little less heavy->Virtual PAF...for more heavy and dirty than TZ->get a quality overdrive pedal,a noise gate and better amp,no higher out pu will get you more quality sound in terms of definition and less mud..it'll still be like V2 in those terms

Anyone who doesn't like the Tone Zone should search this site for information on it. There are few posts here that cover how to set its height correctly and how to mod it to make a Tone Zone/Air Zone hybrid.

Yeah, I think the TZ is a little muddy too.

But, it's better than the QM pup it replaced.

That's true. I own a S470 with a set of Evo's and it's great for screaming leads but not the best for metal rythm gtr.
Now you've got me interested in the Super3...do you think it will work well with a baswood body RG320 downtuned to C...? I use it for rythm work...power chords hitting you in the face it's what I'm looking for XD

Re: So I put a Tone Zone in my RG570

You may want to try the TZ a bit further away from the strings. But yes I do find it muddy sometimes. Would still take a Duncan JB or Caparison PH-R over the TZ any day.

Re: So I put a Tone Zone in my RG570

The JB is my favorite so far...

My next favorite..believe it or not, is the Stock IBZ USA pup in my 90 S540LTD. It's supposed to be like a Super distortion. Honestly, I don't care what it's supposed to be like... it sounds pretty good in that guitar.

I don't like crazy High output pups anyway...I'd rather control how "hot" it is through the amp or effects.
