soapbar?

I just bought a yamaha rgxa2 and i was wondering what soapbar pickups you guys like, maybe a nice high gain humbucker-like bridge and a more vintage neck for good sweeps?

Re: soapbar?

hmm one problem i just thought of, this guitar has no tone knob, how could i install the pickups with no tone control? the emg's seem cool to me, but i think dimarzio would be easier to work with, the emg's would have to be wired to the battery already in my guitar for the light on the volume knob.

Re: soapbar?

you should be able to splice the EMG's to the light in the volume knob and you can install any pickup to suit any configuration. If you don't want a tone or volume knob you can do that. You can have a guitar with no knobs on it at all if you like.

Re: soapbar?

its like 100 bucks per emg >_< i think i might go with some dimarzio's also some of the seymore duncan's look promising. I think the tone zone seem's really nice, but what neck pup would you guys choose to go with that?

Re: soapbar?

EMG's are not that hard to install. I have EMGs with no tone control BTW.

Re: soapbar?

I would actually personally get the DLX 90 for the bridge and the Virtual P90 for the neck. That seems like a good promising pair.

Re: soapbar?

I too have heard that the DLX90 and V P90 are a good match. I think there's also a super distortion in soapbar form as well.
