Roland GR-33 Question

Anytime I use "Somber Strings" or Full Orch" I get about 1.5 seconds of nice clean note and then the notes go sour, it makes me wanna puke. I've tried everything:
new strings = no go
string sensitivity = 2
common/pick dynamics = hard (to cancel excess noise)
release = 0 thru 50
Attack = 0 thru 50
I tried muting very carefully = no go The "Hold" pedal helps somewhat.
I have the GK-2A pickup, not the GK-3A, I installed it perfectly, Could that be it? Whats the difference?
Is there something wrong with my GR?
Any help appreciated, Thanx.
