Looking for some
Dimarzio pickup suggestions for my RG770DX. I like the stock pickups, just getting a little ansy. I play mostly NWOBHM & thrash. I play through a Mk2 Boogie or a POD X3/Line6 Jam Looper for practice - I don't really play with effects - maybe a little compression when recording. Traditionally I've been a Duncan or EMG guy, but I've started playing more and more with Dimarzios.
Here's what I like:
- Super Distortion in the bridge positions of my Adrian Smith Jackson, Dave Murray Strat and my Charvel
- PAF Pro in the neck of my Charvel
- PAF 36th in the neck of my Dave Murray
- I love a good Ibanez notched position - I don't think anything else sounds like it - so positions 2 & 4 are important
- touch sensitivity
- tight chugging on the A and E string
Don't like:
- Open wah sound in the mids
- blubbery top end
Any suggestions?
