Super Distortion vs. Breed
For Bridge in a basswood RG. I have a Breed now, very dark sounding but a good pup. I was thinking of swapping it for something a bit sharper or edger with out going over the top. How would a Super Distortion compare to the Breed? Anyone here use them. I play instrumental rock, and 80's rock.

Re: Super Distortion vs. Breed
I would not put the SD in the sharp department. If you want more edge I would try an Evo2.

Re: Super Distortion vs. Breed
Evo is treblier than Evo2. Evo2 is a bit more mid-range. (Differences are subtle.)
However, Evo2 is much more articulated and responsive to picking dynamics than Evo.

I thought about the Evo 2 but I thought the SD might be better/heavier for rhythm work?

Hmm for playing chords I like the Evo or Evo2 better, the SD gets to muddy IMHO. I sold all my SDs so I cannot compare, but I did not really like em for Chord play.

Re: Super Distortion vs. Breed
Well I love the biting and sharpness of the original Evo, this is what I mainly use (in my JEM). But I have the Evo2 (Bridge) in an old RG (Basswood) and it is really nice. So if you wand a "warmer" touch to your tone go with the Evo2, it is not as bity as the original Evo and has excellent mids.
For real screaming creamin' the Breed is also excellent. Totally different beast though and no way as sharp and tight. Excellent for the "warmer" side of songs.

I thought the Breed was supposed to be a Paf Pro with more balls, isn't it heavier sounding than the pro's? I've not played a pro in the bridge but I have in the neck and I have a Paf Joe in the neck of an rg.
