Sustainer questions

Hey guys, I've been GAS'ing for a sustainer for awhile, it isn't necessarily at the top of my list but I wanted to ask, do you guys generally use the pots provided with the kit from fernandes. Also where do you get the dummy pickup that sits beside it. I have been thinknig about just going for a sustainiac system also and I believe for a humbucker it comes with the dummy and for extra moola they'll install it for me.

Also does the sustainiac come with pots? I need a volume pot so I figure a sustainer with pots would cover my bases haha. I believe I've posted questions about the sustainer but I'm mainly thinking about the actual electronics other than the circuit board and driver and if I should use them.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Sustainer questions

The sustaniac system can be used with push/pull pots to give you all the mixes you want. They will install the pot for you if you want, but it will be solely for controlling the sustainer system, not volume. You could get a new pot put in, or replace a tone pot, I guess. I'd for for the sustainiac system if I were getting one.

Re: Sustainer questions

For some dumb reason I didn't realize that a dummy won't fit in my ibanez without more screw holes. It is a 2570 so direct mount so I'd have to go with the FSK101 kit, but what type of pot is used for the intensity pot?

I was leaning towards sustainiac but I hear the G string drives too much. Also I'd prefer switches since they are more convenient, which both systems work with of course. With the sustainiac system can I use switches that aren't directly mounted to the board? Also I can add/fit the intensity pot inside the normal route I believe.

Also no matter what I'm going to need a battery box routed in, I know I could put it in my electronics cavity but I rather isolate it and not stuff a whole bunch of wires next to a power source.

Also how does the sound of the actual pickup of the sustainiac sound vs. the fernandes, I don't mind Flo's neck pickup sound when he has it selected and the sustainer off.

Also I found these pics on Jemsite that show it fitting pretty well with some minor routing.
