Sustainiac
Do they work as well as fernandes and If i put it in a guitar would it have to be
neck position
? Also, if I got 250k push pull pots for controlling the sustainiac would It change my sound at all or would it sound just like my current 250k pots? I was just wondering, I'm not getting a sustainer pickup until GAS kills me

Re: Sustainiac
From what I can tell, Sustaniacs and Fernandes are basically interchangeable. Same type of magnetic driver. Maybe chip size/shape would be different as well as options, but they're essentially the same thing. Unfortunately, they DO have to be in the neck position, as the driver needs to be as far away from the pickup (bridge-position) as possible. However, if you still want use of your
neck pup
, I believe you can fit a mini-humbucker in the space since it only takes up one coil-room (on certain models).
Hope that helps.

Re: Sustainiac
Ive got a Sustainiac, and it works a treat.
As a
neck pickup
, its decent, very midrangy, not as much treble or openess as an Evo Neck or Air Norton though, its not easy to get
pinch harmonics
from (unlike the Air Norton).
I dont beleive they make the Stealth model anymore (which allows you to use a seperate neck pickup), just the Stealth Pro which has the built in pickup. Im sure there must be a way to wire in another pickup though.
I cant reccomend the Sustainiac enough! I had a little problem with mine (mostly due to installing it) when i finally got round to installing it (6 months after buying it!) and Alan Hoover who runs the place sent me a replacement asap. You dont get that from many companies
