Testing whether pickups work
I'll be wiring up a JEM-style guitar this summer, and I won't have a neck for it until a few months after the pickups are put in. Does anyone know of a way to see if the pickups are all wired/functioning properly WITHOUT a neck or strings?

Plug in and tap the poles with one of your
allen wrenches
. You get the same sound that vai gets when the goes down and the strings go slack and hit the pups.

You can also use a TV/stereo remote control close to the pickups, it'll beep when you hold a button. Seriously.

That sounds neat. I will have to try it when I get home tonight.
