Testing your pickups

I'm finally going to be putting my Jem777VBK back together in the near future(Thx to Jeremy!) and, thought it would be best if I tested my pickups before I assemble everything. My question is how and what do I need to do it? Thx

You will need a digital multimeter(in the states,I bought mine for 20$ at radio shack).A good reference book is"guitar electronics for musicians"by Donald Brosnac. It tells you how to use this little device to troubleshoot every electrical component of a guitar. For reference(after you figure out how to use the multimeter),the correct DC resistance for a PAF Pro is 8.40K.Chances are that if your pickups worked before you dissassembled it,they will probably work again. The multimeter has helped me find grounding problems and bad pots.Perhaps someone else on here can enlighten you further.
