The best output jacks
What do you reccomend as the being the best output jacks? And where did you buy it/them?
I was looking at stew-mac:
http://www.stewmac.com/cgi-bin/hazel...ection%3Djacks
(you might have to copy and paste that link) and I really dont know which one to get, I do know I want to avoid the switchcraft type ones, And I only need it to be mono, What is the difference between all of those?
Also I know they are pictured with it, but do the floyd style arms from stew-mac come with the mount?

The
trem arms
from them should come with the mount.. At least all the other blister-packs for Schaller's trem arms come with the mount.
Why do you dislike Switchcraft jacks? I've never seen one fail, aside from being dirty, and they're pretty much the industry standard for a quality jacks.

toshiro: I think almost every guitar I've ever had had switchcraft type jacks, I've had some problems with them, and its time for a change, the industry standard isnt suitable for everyone, especially my custom. Anyway, I know there are better jacks out there.
nuno: those jacks were on the groove tools/Conklin 7
string bass
I always play in Guitar-center. They seem cool, a possible candidate.
But what is the big difference between all those in the link I provided above from stew-mac? Has anyone here bought any of those?

This is what's in a Jem/UV/RG5xx (and up):
http://www.stewmac.com/cgi-bin/hazel...l&sku=1819
It's also in my
custom Ibanez
V. I wouldn't use any other jack -- certainly not the little switchcraft one which needs a mounting plate and all that crap.
It says it's a stereo jack, but that doesn't matter. If you're using active pickups, you use the stereo terminals to kill the power when you unplug the guitar. If you're using passive pickups, you just wire up the tip and the sleeve leaving the lug for the ring connection open.

Okay, I'm confused now..
The barrel jacks that Stew-mac sells are made by, you guess it, Switchcraft. Why they call the simple plate-mount jacks just 'Switchcraft', is beyond me. About 5 different companies make jacks in these two designs, a lot of them *bad*..
I can see why people don't like plate-mount jacks, but usually it's the crappy ones that go bad.
As I said, I've never had a problem with Switchcraft stuff, barrel or plate-mounted. It's the cheapo jacks that I dislike.

yep,
they're also on the Ibanez BTB bass series.
they're locking jacks, the same used by the legendary tech Mark Snyder for
John Petrucci
's guitars and rig connections as well.
check
THIS
and give a look at the down right corner...

I just remembered something... one feature I'm after is never having to tighten my jack EVER. Do you think the Neutrik-USA locking jacks can achive that?
Also does anyone have a picture of the back of the NJ3FP6C jack?

What I mean is in the past I've had to tighten the jacks on some of my switchcraft style jacks, and if my memory serves me well, I had to tighten my uv7bk jack alot, What I'm saying is with this Neutrik-USA locking NJ3FP6C jack, I wont have to worry about it, can you order them separatly from their site?

oh no,
i think you'll never encounter these kinda problems with a Neutrik, cause they're pretty sturdy and reliable.
i think you can find'em in a good
guitar shop
.
i found a bunch once in a guitar shop here in Italy, go figure there in the USA!

I ordered the one that ryan linked to from stewmac for my UV7BK. It is 2mm too long to fit in the cavity. I had to break off the ground connection to make it fit.

What do you think about the Schertler Bluejack?
http://www.stewmac.com/cgi-bin/hazel...l&sku=5283
Has anyone ever tried one of these?
