the X2N slays!!!!

just thought i would share my opinion on my recently purchased X2N and then also bitch about one of my ibanez's

firstly any metal head out there thinking about changing pickups you won't regret buying the X2N it's so much heavier and Fatter than the tone zone.the clean sound isn't that great but the distortion sound is just awesome.

so much so that i'm replacing all my pickups with X2N's

now for the bitching, has anyone changed pickups in a new 1570 from 2005

whats with the huge amount of extra wood in the pickup cavity? i had to gouge it out with a hammer and screwdriver just to get the dimarzio fit.

has anyone else incountered this

Haven't encountered any of your problems, but I do agree with you. The X2N is great, especially when used with vintage voiced amps and Marshalls (JCM's, plexi's, etc). It really sounds good.

Here's a picture of mine in my RG550 with an Air Norton in the neck:

man, that is the first ibanez i ever wanted! my guitar teacher had that exact colour, it looks cool with white pups.

as for the 3 inches of useless wood

i have never encountered it in any other guitars either, thats why i asked about it.

Re: the X2N slays!!!!

Tha switch "was" a DPDT for coil taps for the humbuckers. However, I figured that I liked the traditional wiring better, so after I took the switch out, I filled the empty hole with another tone control. So now I have dedicated tone controls for both the X2N and the Air Norton. The reason I did this is that I like to have the tone on the X2N at about 7 because it warms it a up a bit. However, I didn't want to have to be constantly fiddling with the tone control when selecting different pickups, thus the need for two independent tones.
