Thinking about replacing my Evo with an X2N

Title. I have a '91 Jem77fp with evos in the bridge and neck instead of the PAFs. the neck evo is great sounding. thick, meaty with nice leads. however, iv had two different evos in the bridge just not cutting it. hell, even with all the adjustments the neck pup sounds better.

i'm a metalhead and really, the evo doesnt have that crunch that i have with my other axe. i have a blade pickups (duncan dimebucker - bil lawrence xl 500) which sound almost fantastic -- although, they are a bit thin. however, i have read many reviews on DiMarzio X2Ns and heard that they are just amazing improving the blade pickup. i mean Chuck Schuldiner used 'em! I may be wrong, but didn't Vai use them at one point as well?

Anyway, does anyone recommend these? How do they compare to the Evo? What do you guys think? Any comments are appreciated. thanks.

-Nord

Edit: if anyone is able to compare it to a duncan dimebucker, that would be useful as well. thanks,

Try the Evo2, it has fixed a lot of the "thin" and "shrill" shortcomings of the Evo. I love it and it goes great with Evo neck.

I've got a clip of the X2N...

http://music.download.com/Shredcows Check out X2N showcase

Using a Saber... and some cheap Boss pedals. Everything guitar in that clip is X2N.

the X2N will kill in rhythm. KILL. You can't stop palm muting. :P Seriously, great for thrash metal rhythms.

I had the Evo 2 for a week.. then this new pup came in and okay, Evo 2 is out. Maybe you wanna check it out? Its another thread on the same forum...

Sounds great. maybe even EXACTLY what i'm looking for haha. seems like great leads mixed with perfect metal rhythm. i'll pick one up and see how it sounds for myself.

the Evo 2 still seems more relaxed than the original so I'm gonna try the x2n. anyways, thanks everyone.
