Thoughts on new pups. Seymour Duncans in a Rg2020x

really what i was asking is, how would it affect my tone if i swapped the v-7 and v-8 pups with SD Jazz neck and a SD Screamin Demon. the v's are a tad bit weak and undefined. i had a Screamin demon in an rg320 and the tone was awesome and really did scream.

you'd get more power and much better clarity. also pinch harmonics will come out much better.

The duncan 59 is a bit rounder and has less highs than the jazz. But it depends on what oyu like. That part is up to you. The screamin demon is actually a pretty tame pup.It isn't super hot or anything.I considered one for my 2020x.Overall, the screamin demon is a balanced pup with good highs.

The JB is a little hotter wit hperhaps more mids and the custom would have a bit tighter low end and peakier/sharper high end

The Pearly Gates is also a good neck pup.

The Demon didn’t work in my S540 which is mahagony. It can’t really manifest the rich midrange of that wood. It’s a totally different case when it was moved to my RG 1550 which is basswood & less massive. Maybe George Lynch had this one in mind for less massive guitars & it really works…

I used to have an Invader in a basswood RG. I thought it was pretty nice. Good and fat, with higher output. It looks pretty cool, too.
